Job Summary

The Laboratory Technicians will be responsible for collecting, preparing, and storing research samples, assisting in laboratory maintenance and analytical work, ensuring a safe working environment, and supporting biobanking activities and fieldwork.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collecting, preparing, and storing research samples and specimens.
  • Assisting in maintaining laboratory records and equipment.
  • Assisting in performing analytical and diagnostic work.
  • Ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
  • Assisting in designing and developing the necessary laboratory infrastructure needed for biobanking.
  • Performing biobanking activities.
  • Assisting in preparing reagents and materials.
  • Handling and disposing of laboratory waste.
  • Collecting, preparing, and storing research samples and specimens.
  • Assisting in fieldwork.

Qualifications & Requirements

For appointment to this grade, an Officer MUST have:

  • Diploma in any of the following fields: Medical Laboratory Sciences, Laboratory Sciences, Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
  • Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) where applicable.
  • Valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board where applicable.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Demonstrated work performance and results.
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
