Job Summary
The HVAC Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day management of HVAC equipment, including operation monitoring, maintenance, technical inspection, acceptance testing, and supervision of third-party services. They will also assist the HVAC supervisor with spares requirements and pre-purchase technical appraisals.
Regular Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for HVAC equipment throughout Aga Khan University as assigned, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
- Document all HVAC activities and test results according to department policy.
- Promptly respond to HVAC equipment Breakdown Maintenance (BDMA) requests from user departments as per policy.
- Timely complete and document HVAC equipment & systems Preventive Maintenance (PPM) as per policy.
- Liaise with user departments regarding HVAC equipment and systems maintenance activities and report issues to the HVAC supervisor.
Periodic Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist the HVAC supervisor with requests for special projects, such as new equipment acquisition/upgrade purchase planning and development of bid specifications.
- Assist the HVAC supervisor with equipment/systems inventory and the development of Preventative Maintenance schedules and guidelines.
- Develop or review with the HVAC supervisor equipment safety and device-specific in-service education for other technicians and equipment users as necessary.
- Perform incident investigations and HVAC equipment performance analysis as required.
- Develop or review with the HVAC supervisor emergency and safety plans related to the use and operation of HVAC equipment.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or equivalent qualifications.
- Computer Literacy.
- Sound technical knowledge of HVAC, centralized air conditioning, and refrigeration systems functioning and maintenance (mechanical, electrical/electronic).
- Accurate interpretation of technical drawings and specifications.
- A minimum of 3 years of working experience in a similar position.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High personal integrity.
