Job Summary
KEMRI is looking for a skilled Senior Laboratory Technologist to perform various laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, reagent preparation, and equipment maintenance. The role involves ensuring adherence to biosafety guidelines and maintaining accurate records for clinical and research management.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive, collect, and record specimens accurately.
- Process and analyze specimens according to established protocols.
- Prepare reagents for various laboratory tests.
- Record and report test results promptly and accurately.
- Dispatch results for clinical and research management.
- Perform routine and daily maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Ensure strict adherence to biosafety and biosecurity guidelines.
- Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and databases.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities.
- Assist in the training and supervision of junior laboratory staff.
- Troubleshoot and resolve laboratory equipment and procedural issues.
- Ensure a clean and organized laboratory environment.
- Participate in research activities as required.
- Comply with all relevant regulatory and ethical guidelines.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.
- Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) or any other recognized regulatory body.
- Valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.
- At least four (4) years’ relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Demonstrated work performance and results.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a team player.
