Job Summary
The Project Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of TB prevention, case detection, and treatment programs in Bungoma County. This role involves coordinating with health facilities, engaging with communities, monitoring progress, and building capacity for TB management. The Project Officer will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of TB services and contribute to improving community health outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Program Implementation: Support the implementation of TB prevention, case detection, and treatment programs in alignment with MIK's policies and Global Fund guidelines.
- Coordination & Supervision: Coordinate with health facilities, local authorities, and Community Health Promoters (CHPs) to ensure effective service delivery. Provide direct supervision to field officers and CHPs.
- Community Engagement: Engage with communities of People Living with HIV (PLHIV), Adolescents and Young People (AYP), and other high-risk groups through peer-to-peer approaches leveraging the Community Strategy.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Collaborate with the M&E and other program team members to track progress, conduct routine data collection, and ensure reporting meets the standards required by the Global Fund, AMREF Health Africa, the government of Kenya, and MIK.
- Capacity Building: Provide mentorship to the program team, CHPs, TB champions, and other volunteers to strengthen local capacity for TB management and community sensitization.
- Resource Management: Oversee the allocation and management of program resources, ensuring that the budget is adhered to and that resources are used effectively.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Establish and maintain strong working relationships with local government agencies, healthcare partners, and other civil society organizations involved in TB/HIV services.
- Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely reporting of program activities and outcomes, as well as documentation of lessons learned and best practices.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Degree in Health-related Sciences (e.g., Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Public Health) or an equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of experience working in TB and HIV programs, preferably with a focus on community health systems strengthening.
- Technical Skills: Experience in TB case detection, treatment adherence, and preventive interventions. Knowledge of Global Fund TB/HIV programs and guidelines is highly desirable.
- Community Engagement: Strong experience working with community-based organizations and vulnerable populations.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with government health systems, local stakeholders, and donor agencies.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and mobilize communities and stakeholders.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Familiarity with program monitoring, data collection, and reporting, ensuring adherence to Global Fund and donor standards.
- IT Skills: Strong IT skills, including experience with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AI tools.
