Job Summary
The Branch Manager will lead the Kawangware branch, implementing strategic initiatives, driving sales, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and operational standards. This role involves building a high-performing team and fostering strong customer relationships.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Business Growth (60%):
- Implement business strategic initiatives and create ownership of branch performance targets.
- Monitor branch business performance and adjust execution strategies.
- Manage branch portfolio risks in line with the bank’s appetite.
- Conduct market intelligence to identify new market opportunities.
- Manage borrowing and non-borrowing accounts to enhance customer loyalty.
- Lead the branch team to achieve sales targets and participate in sales activations.
- Establish relationships with top clients and business influencers.
- Provide regular performance feedback to staff.
- Internal Controls, Governance, Processes & Procedures (15%):
- Ensure adherence to Absa Bank policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with KYC & AML processes.
- Manage branch costs and ensure operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with operational, security, and process risk requirements.
- Achieve satisfactory audit ratings.
- Drive quality sales and ensure data privacy.
- Customer Experience (15%):
- Maintain the branch's look and feel as per Absa standards.
- Ensure excellent customer experience and achieve set TAT.
- Appraise and resolve customer issues and complaints.
- Monitor counter service and ensure minimal customer waiting time.
- Capacity Building & People Management (10%):
- Build and develop a high-performing staff team.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to branch staff.
- Manage performance, disciplinary issues, and grievances.
- Ensure completion of e-learning and internal training activities.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Preferred Qualification:
- University degree in a relevant discipline; postgraduate qualifications are an added advantage.
- Preferred Experience:
- At least 5 years of Banking/Financial Services experience, with 3 years in branch management.
- Prior experience in supervisory or managerial positions in the banking industry.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong leadership, managerial, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid understanding of financial products and services.
- Knowledge of lending procedures, investment options, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets.
- Understanding of banking regulations and compliance requirements.
- Up-to-date knowledge of competitor and market activity.
- Detailed knowledge of operational and credit risk policies and procedures.
