Job Overview

  • Position: Prevention Coordinator
  • Location: Nairobi, Kenya (with occasional field visits)
  • Employment Type: Full-time (45 hours per week)
  • Contract Duration: 12 months
  • Salary: Ksh 50,000 per month (Gross)

Job Summary

The Prevention Coordinator will lead community engagement initiatives to create safe environments for vulnerable populations and survivors of human trafficking. The role involves strategic planning, project coordination, partnership development, and advocacy.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Management & Administration

  • Oversee prevention projects to ensure compliance with donor requirements.
  • Develop training programs to enhance internal capacity.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Control team to improve project reporting and impact assessment.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with grassroots communities and mobilizers.
  • Strengthen both offline and online community engagement efforts.
  • Manage and allocate budgets effectively across multiple grants.
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery aligned with HAART’s values and policies.
  • Oversee team performance, engagement, and professional development.
  • Prioritize staff well-being through workload management and psychological support.
  • Foster cross-departmental collaboration and internal communication.

Coordination, Partnership & Representation

  • Develop strategic plans and budget proposals to secure sustainable funding.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with government and non-governmental organizations.
  • Represent HAART at conferences, meetings, and networking events.
  • Collaborate with HAART’s Communication team for content development and public engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational goals and policy frameworks.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • University degree or diploma in Social Work, Law, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years experience working with grassroots communities.
  • Leadership experience in team management and budgeting.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and diplomatic skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and multitask effectively.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili (written and spoken).
  • Experience in counter-trafficking, migration, or advocacy (preferred).
  • Familiarity with NGO operations and donor-funded projects.
  • Strong digital literacy (Microsoft Suite, email communication, etc.).
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and handle stressful situations.
  • Commitment to HAART’s values and ethical principles.
