Job Overview
The Laboratory Systems Officer will be tasked with providing technical expertise, coordination and supervision of all laboratory services in South Rift Valley Region. The candidate will be tasked with the implementation, management and monitoring of HIV/TV diagnosis.
Duties And Responsibilities
The Laboratory Systems Officer will be tasked with:
- Responsible for ensuring all lab facilities under SRV PEPFAR meet the set targets in the count operations plan while maintaining international standards.
- Ensure SRV PEPFAR-supported laboratories follow MoH guidelines in providing HIV/TB guidelines.
- Ensure that all labs have updated SOPs and well-trained staff and they attend all CMEs.
- Ensure and provide technical leadership in the implementation of HIV-related labs
- Support the HIV service delivery program team when launching lab management activities.
- Liaise with the clinical team to ensure that lab results are utilized efficiently to improve patient management.
- In liaison with County and Sub County lab coordinators provide technical leadership in HIV/TB management.
- Support all research activities as required in all SRV-supported labs.
- Collaborate with all laboratory technicians in the institution.
- Liaise with KEMRI clinical research laboratory.
- Provide technical support in calibration, standardization and routine preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Act as a liaison between the Clinical Research Lab and facilities for follow-up on samples and issues related to access to lab results from the NASCOP EID/VL database.
- Participate in laboratory activities in research and program evaluation as required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the director or immediate supervisor.

Qualifications
The Laboratory Systems Officer should meet the following.
- Bachelor's degree or Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science.
- A minimum of 3 years experience.
- Registration certificate with Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technicians Board.
- Understand current National Policies and Guidelines in comprehensive HIV/AIDS Management.
- Knowledgeable in HIV/TB diagnosis.
- Detailed knowledge of opportunist infections.
- Proficient in computer applications.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to nurture good working relationships with partner hospitals CHMT and NASCOP.
