Secondly someone in Job Group H can also get to Job Group K (CPSB 09) through promotions based on the level of experience, skills earned through short courses, seminars or any kind of verified training recognized by the employer.

The basic salary of Job Group K (CPSB 09) ranges from Ksh 38,270 to Ksh 51,170 as of the current SRC outline.

Job K increment rate varies per year. The increment goes up from Ksh 38,270 all the way to Ksh 51,170.

The increment rate is usually valid on the first day of the financial year which is 1st July of every year after the Budget is read.

Allowances for Job Group K

All Job Groups in Kenya are entitled to monthly allowances from Job Group A to Job Group T. The allowances differ in each job group, the station of work and the type of work an employee is tasked to do. We have the common allowances and special allowances. All public servants or employees under Job group K are entitled to a monthly house allowance to cater for their monthly rental bills. 

This Monthly allowance varies depending on the region of work, SRC groups Housing allowance into 4 clusters, based on Location.

Cluster 1: This covers employees posted in Nairobi only because it is considered to be the most expensive of all.

Cluster 2: This covers employees posted in the county headquarters of Kisumu, Nakuru, Mombasa, Malindi, Lamu, Kwale, Kilifi, and Naivasha. 

Cluster 3: This covers employees in the county headquarters of Nyeri, Machakos, Eldoret, Kericho, Kisii, Kakamega, Lodwar, Embu, Nanyuki, and Garissa.

Cluster 4: This covers all other employees covered Not covered under clusters 1, 2 and 3.

Job Group K Commuter Allowance

In Kenya, all job groups are entitled to Transport allowance also known as commuter allowances. All commuter allowances differ in every job group though location is not a factor here.
For Job Group K the Transport allowance or Commuter allowance per month is Ksh 5,000

Job Group K Hardship Allowance 

Employees posted in hardship areas as recognized by the salaries and remuneration commission are entitled to a monthly hardship allowance in every job group. Again, Location is not a factor when it comes to determining the amount of money to be paid. 

For Job Group K the Hardship Allowance per month is Ksh 10,900.

Job Group K Salary Deductions

In Kenya, as of the recent updates from the National Treasury in conjunction with Kenya Revenue Authority and SRC kenyans will be eligible for statutory deductions as follows;

• Pay As You Earn (PAYE)
• NSSF at a rate of 6%
• SHIF at a rate of 2.75%
• Housing Levy at a rate of 1.5%
