About Murang'a County Government
Murang’a County Government intends to improve the provision of Medical Services through
Telemedicine. Telemedicine is an innovative cost effective service delivery model, that ensures
that clients are attended to virtually at telemedicine clinics near their locality by qualified health
staff without incurring cost of travel to far flung physical clinics, while ensuring access to quality
medications and clinical instructions.
Murang’a County Public Service Board therefore wishes to engage competent and qualified
health personnel to provide telemedicine services as follows:
1. CLINICAL OFFICERS
Job Overview
Duties and Responsibilities
- Taking history, examining, diagnosing and treating patients’ common ailments online;
- Implementing community health care activities in liaison with other health workers;
- Guiding and counselling patients, clients and staff on health issues online;
- Sensitizing patients and clients on preventive and promotive health;
- Referring patients and clients to appropriate health facilities;
- Providing clinical outreach and school health services;
- Carrying out minor surgical procedures as per training and skill;
- Collecting and compiling clinical data;
- Assessing, preparing and presenting medico-legal reports.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or Clinical Medicine and Community Health from a recognized institution;
- Certificate of Registration from the Clinical Officers’ Council;
- Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution.

2. PHARMACIST
Job Overview
The successful candidate will be technically reporting to the Pharmacy In charge. The Primary role of the Pharmacist will be providing primary health services in Murang'a County, Department of Health services.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Screening prescriptions for legal validity, drug contraindications, drug interaction,
- appropriateness of dose, frequency and duration of dosing and patience
- convenience;
- Preparing and dispensing medicines according to good dispensing practices and
- counselling patients on use of medicine online.
- Making extemporaneous preparations;
- Participating in ward rounds;
- Identify medicinal gaps and challenges;
- Maintaining a daily activity log book for recording all activities undertaken;
- Recommending Over the Counter (OTC) medicines to patients/clients with simple
- medical conditions and making necessary referrals;
- Making entries into the relevant inventory management records and registers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree from an institution recognized by the Pharmacy and Poisons board;
- Successfully completed one (1) year internship from a recognized institution;
- Registration certificate by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board;
- Certificate in computer Application skills from a recognized institution.

3. MEDICAL OFFICERS
Job Overview
The successful candidates will be technically reporting to the immediate supervisor. The Primary role of the Medical Officer will be providing primary health services in Murang'a County, Department of Health services.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Diagnosing, caring and treating diseases online
- Performing medical and surgical procedures;
- Preparing and responding to emergencies and disasters;
- Participating in management of medicine, medical instruments and equipment;
- Providing health education;
- Maintaining health records, health information and data;
- Counselling patients and their relatives on diagnoses and bereavements;
- Teaching and coaching medical students, nursing students and clinical officer intern;
- Preparing requisite documents for registration.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board;
- Successfully completed one (1) year internship from a recognized institution;
- Registration license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
- Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution.

4. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR MEDICAL SERVICES/MEDICAL SPECIALIST II
Job Overview
Duties And Responsibilities

- Preparing requisite documents for registration.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board;
- At least a minimum of three (3) years’ work experience preferably in telemedicine.
- Successfully completed one (1) year internship from a recognized institution;
- Registration license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
- Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution
