Kenya Redcross society is a humanitarian organization which is an auxiliary of the public authorities.
It was founded in the year 1965 under the Kenya Redcross Act chapter 256 of the laws of Kenya. Kenya Redcross is acknowledged by the Kenya Government in providing voluntarily services in Kenya especially during the time of emergencies.

Kenya Redcross has 8 regional offices in the country, 47 County Offices in the country,  has over 256,000 members and volunteers and has reached out to over 2 Million beneficiaries.


1. CLINICAL OFFICER

Position: - 1 
Location: Dadaab, Garissa Kenya.
Employment Type: Contract.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will be technically reporting to the clinical officer In charge. The Primary role of the clinical officer will be providing primary health services at info 1 and 2 camps and Dadaab Camps.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical assessment and prescription of treatment for all patients according to the current MOH guidelines.
  • Consultatively refer chronic cases to the various special clinics.
  • Participate and conduct ward rounds efficiently.
  • Accurately and efficiently document treatment in patients files.
  • Carry out minor surgical procedures as per the Training scope.
  • Attend to any medical emergencies that arise in the hospital and health posts.
  • Participate and contribute in camp health assessments/surveys.
  • Participate and train medical staff in CME sessions.
  • efficiently ensure smooth running of the health post and provide supervision, support and guidance to all staff working at the health post.
  • Efficiently ensure a high quality of care in management of patients.
  • Effectively ensure that universal precautions and infection prevention guidelines are adhered to.
  • Effectively Compile and submit all weekly reports.

Qualifications 

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized training institution.
  • A valid practice License.
  • Registration certificate from  Clinical Officers Council. 
  • A Minimum of  2 years’ experience working in a complex, multifaceted medical establishment.
  • Previous experience of working in a refugee camp environment is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills: both oral, written and presentation skills.
  • A team player and culturally sensitive.
  • Excellent leadership skills, team building skills, conflict resolution skills and ability to deliver the Society’s strategic objectives.
  • Effectively Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications - MS Suite.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will be technically reporting to the laboratory In charge. The Primary role of the laboratory technologist will be responsible for smooth running of the laboratory at info 1 and 2 camps and Dadaab Camps.


Duties And Responsibilities

  • Effectively co ordinate day-to-day operations to ensure quality laboratory services are delivered to Kenya Redcross Society beneficiaries.
  • Promptly provide medical laboratory diagnostic and therapeutic information, products and services by establishing specimen preparation procedures, developing and implementing analytical procedures, evaluating laboratory information and reporting results according to the established protocols.
  • Effectively maintain  and monitor medical laboratory equipment performance by establishing quality standards, developing operations manuals, quality and troubleshooting procedures, certifying instrument performance, arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair.
  • Update medical laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, prompting needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies specifically for medical laboratory.
  • Effectively keep medical laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas, by  identifying peak and slack periods, thus making operational adjustment.
  • Effectively sustain quality results by participating in quality assurance process, performing proficiency surveys, reviewing quality control and quality assurance programs, making adjustments in policy and procedures, generating reports and maintaining records.
  • Maintain medical laboratory information system by identifying information needs and problems, recommending improvements, establishing priorities, testing and writing & reviewing Standard operation Procedures.
  • Role out new polices and programs, tests, methods, instrumentation and procedures by investigating alternatives, preparing proposals, developing and performing parallel testing and monitoring progress.
  • Keep regular contact with clients suffering from various diseases to monitor their progress and response to medications by doing routine investigations.
  • Efficiently co ordinate and organize and conduct blood drive periodically.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree/Higher Diploma /Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science from recognized medical institution.
  • A minimum of  (2)’ years practical relevant work experience as a Laboratory Technologist.
  • Registration certificate from Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist board (KMLTTB).
  • A valid practice License.
  • A minimum of  2 years working in a busy hospital set up in laboratory department.
  • Strong leadership skills, team building skills , conflict resolution skills and ability to deliver the Society’s strategic objectives.
  • Proficiency in Computer Applications - MS Suite.
  • An effective team player and culturally sensitive.
  • Excellent communication skills.

3. HEALTH INFORMATION SYSTEMS OFFICER

Job Overview

The successful candidate will be technically reporting to the laboratory In charge. The Primary role of the laboratory technologist will be responsible for providing leadership for the data management and improving data quality and ensure the same is reported into the County and National HIS while collecting information, to optimize the use of that data for decision-making.

Duties And Responsibilities.

  • Effectively plan and design practices, efficient processes and procedures that allow for effective management of people, resources and processes to optimize overall Kenya Road Society performance.
  • Effectively Assess and control the center’s exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Effectively develop new, better or significantly different ideas, methods, solutions or initiatives that result in improvement of the settlement’s performance and meeting organizational objectives, results and organization’s commitments.
  • Efficiently determine data to be collected based on program and Kenya Redcross needs.
  • Effectively perform analysis to determine adequacy of data collection and evaluation processes.
  • Promptly organize, implement and enforce data management procedures.
  • Effectively train employees on proper data management tools and equipment.
  • Perfectly establish data quality standards and ensures they are met.
  • Manage contracts with all software vendors associated with data collection and management.
  • Ensure that software functions properly at all times and data management system is operating correctly.
  • Troubleshoot for solutions in all data-related problem areas.
  • Make sure all software updates are installed and implemented and staffs are trained on proper application.
  • Effectively ensure data management system is compliant with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Perfectively evaluate data management system to improve operational procedures.
  • Effectively prepare regular reports for various departments and levels in the organization.
  • Efficiently ensure Kenya Red Cross Society reports to national and county reporting systems
  • Effectively develop special reports upon request.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Health Information Systems or relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 2 Years’ experience in IDSR, routine and non-routine data management of community based programs.
  • Vast knowledge and competency in using the latest KHIS tools, uploading the data and generating reports.
  • Effectively demonstrate ability to undertake programming and/or analysis in one or more of: SPSS, STATA, MySQL, share point technologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of data management soft wares.
  • Possesses excellent mathematical abilities and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and presentation skills in both English and Kiswahili, including ability to develop reports and prepare statistical information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cross-cultural skills including the ability to build collaborative relationships with sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and political issues.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for the work and keen to learn as well as share knowledge and new ideas.
