MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST

Job Overview

The successful candidate for the advertised position will be technically reporting to the Medical Laboratory manager. The Primary role of the Medical Laboratory Officer will be providing primary health services to the students and staff of Kabarak University at the University health facility. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Perform a variety of laboratory tests, such as hematology, clinical chemistry, and microbiology.
  •  Accurately Collect and process patient samples, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
  •  Maintain quality control standards and ensured accurate test results.
  •  Participate and assist in inventory management of laboratory supplies and reagents.
  •  Contribute  and participate to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (Sops).
  •  Effectively adhere to laboratory safety protocols and biohazard waste management guidelines.
  •  Participate and contribute in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  •  Support data entry, management, and analyze using laboratory information systems.
  •  Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide timely and accurate laboratory results.
  •  Operate laboratory equipment, including microscopes, centrifuges, and analyzers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized university
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related work experience
  • A valid Practice License
  • Registration with Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board.
  • Excellent Communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Critical and Analytical thinking skills.
  • Laboratory safety skills.
